What You’ll Do
This entry-level Quality role supports quality assurance and quality control activities for an insourced laboratory team as part of an End-to-End (E2E) Laboratory Modernization Program at a client site. You will work within an ISO 17025 accredited analytical production laboratory and perform tasks under direct supervision while developing technical proficiency.
- Coordinate and manage CAPA and non-conformance activities related to laboratory deviations, audit findings, and customer observations.
- Lead or support root-cause investigations using established quality methodologies.
- Maintain controlled documents (SOPs, work instructions, forms) and manage revision, approval, archival, and retention workflows.
- Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and equipment qualification; keep calibration and metrology records to ensure measurement traceability.
- Perform scanning, indexing, electronic filing, and records retrieval for laboratory documents and quality records.
- Coordinate and track training, onboarding, qualification, and competency assessments for laboratory personnel.
- Track CAPA progress, calibration schedules, and training compliance to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
- Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable quality requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, inspection readiness, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions with laboratory staff, quality representatives, and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to streamline quality systems across CAPA, document control, metrology, records management, and training.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
Key Qualifications

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline with 0–2 years relevant experience; OR
- Associate degree plus 2+ years relevant quality or laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively under close-to-direct supervision in a regulated laboratory environment.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with CAPA principles, deviation management, and root cause analysis.
- Basic understanding of document control, records management, and metrology/calibration programs.
- Willingness to follow detailed procedures and complete routine tasks reliably.

Preferred:
- Experience managing CAPA systems, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with electronic document/records systems, LIMS, or learning management systems.
- Experience coordinating calibration and equipment maintenance; familiarity with metrology or asset-management software.
- Experience in ISO 17025, GLP, GMP, or FDA-regulated environments.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work in laboratory or controlled environments that require personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses).
- May require extended periods in stationary positions and frequent movement between labs, corridors, and rooms.
- Frequent bending, squatting, stretching, reaching; occasional lifting/moving up to 25 lbs (potentially up to 50 lbs).
- Specific vision abilities required (close-range detail, color vision, depth perception).
- May handle hazardous waste per local, state and federal regulations; potential exposure to lab hazards (extreme temperature, biological materials, hazardous chemicals).
- May be required to complete medical clearance, respiratory protection training, and fit testing.
Compensation & Location
- Employment type: Full-time
- Location: Richmond, VA (client site)
- Annual base pay range: $55,000 – $75,000 (final offer based on experience, location, and internal equity).
