Salary range (annual): $70,300 — $110,100 (USD)
What You’ll Do
The Automation Core supports high-throughput, automated laboratory workflows used across research and pre-clinical development. As an Associate Scientist on the Operations team you will:
- Operate and troubleshoot automation methods on standalone and integrated systems (examples: Hamilton, Opentrons, HighRes).
- Run and support off‑the‑shelf lab devices such as dispensers, plate readers/washers, and ODTCs.
- Perform routine, vendor‑recommended instrument maintenance to keep equipment in peak condition.
- Coordinate sample drop‑offs and logistics with researchers to keep schedules on track.
- Monitor and help manage the reservation calendar to prevent or resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Maintain general laboratory housekeeping and follow safety/cGxP procedures.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional scientific and engineering teams to improve workflows.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field.
- 0–2 years industry or relevant internship experience working with laboratory automation systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to escalate and document issues clearly.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills for troubleshooting automated systems.
- Comfortable working independently on defined tasks and small projects with guidance from senior staff.
- Positive attitude toward learning new workflows and suggesting process improvements.
- Eligible candidates will have familiarity with or interest in molecular biology, flow cytometry, genomic, or cell‑based assays.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Hands‑on experience operating liquid handling instruments (e.g., Hamilton STAR).
- Familiarity with Opentrons, HighRes systems, or integrated automation stacks.
- Experience with plate readers/washers, dispensers, and other laboratory instrumentation.
