Position Overview

This Associate Sales Engineer role in Fenton, MO is an entry-level technical sales opportunity supporting the senior sales and applications engineers. The position is designed to develop technical and commercial skills through hands-on mentorship, customer engagement, proposal support, CRM management, and occasional travel. Employment is with a confidential client in the Sales industry.


What You’ll Do

This role supports the sales organization across commercial, technical, and administrative activities as you grow into higher responsibility sales positions.

  • Support Senior Sales and Senior Applications Engineers throughout the sales process from inquiry to project award.
  • Participate in customer meetings, conference calls, and occasional onsite visits to learn customer applications and build relationships.
  • Assist with customer follow-up, meeting scheduling, and maintaining timely communications.
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, commercial documentation, and quotations for standard and custom equipment.
  • Review customer specifications, RFQs, terms & conditions, and purchase orders to identify clarifications.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records (opportunities, activities, forecasts) and support sales reporting.
  • Support order processing and documentation handoff to operations after project award.
  • Learn product lines and technologies through internal training, engineering discussions, and project reviews.
  • Help with lead qualification, trade show follow-up, and marketing initiatives.
  • Look for process improvements in proposal development, CRM use, and internal communication.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Marketing, or related).
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in sales, engineering, manufacturing, customer service, or another customer-facing technical role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional customer interaction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits and training.

Preferred

  • Internship or experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, automation, or capital equipment.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Exposure to reading technical drawings or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience preparing proposals or commercial documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in work, school, military, athletics, or extracurriculars.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Office-based role with occasional exposure to manufacturing floor conditions (varied temperatures and moderate noise).
  • Primarily stationary office work with periodic movement to access equipment or files.
  • Occasional tasks may require ascending/descending ladders or accessing equipment at varying heights.
