Role overview

Confidential Client (Advertising Services) is seeking an Associate Product Manager to turn discovery and business needs into build-ready product requirements for internal platforms (order management and creative production). Reporting to a Senior Product Manager, you will manage assigned workstreams, run structured discovery with cross-functional partners, and deliver clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering and design can execute from confidently.

What You’ll Do

  • Write clear, detailed product requirements (PRDs) and user stories for in-house order management and creative production platforms
  • Lead structured discovery with Sales, Operations, and Client Services to uncover pain points, workflows, and edge cases
  • Own day-to-day execution of assigned product workstreams and keep initiatives moving with limited oversight
  • Deliver build-ready documentation: workflows, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and open questions
  • Partner with Engineering during backlog refinement, sprint planning, and delivery to keep tickets aligned with intended product behavior
  • Surface scope, timeline, dependency, and technical trade-offs early and recommend pragmatic solutions
  • Build working knowledge of core platform functionality, integrations, and data flows to inform requirements
  • Keep artifacts current: update PRDs and communicate changes as decisions evolve

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in a product or product-adjacent role writing requirements and shipping work with engineering
  • Experience working in an agile software or SaaS environment (backlog refinement, sprint planning, delivery)
  • Proven ability to elicit stakeholder needs and translate them into unambiguous requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Experience mapping and documenting workflows and processes
  • Technical fluency sufficient to follow high-level discussions about APIs, integrations, and data flow
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical thinking and judgment; ability to prioritize and weigh trade-offs effectively
  • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset; comfortable driving work independently
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • Background in ad tech or digital media (ad operations, trafficking, agency, publisher, ad server)
  • Experience with SaaS product operations or systems integration documentation
  • Comfortable using AI tools for research synthesis, drafting, and analysis

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $85,000–$110,000 (base pay depends on experience, skills, and location)
  • Additional: 10% semi-annual bonus; package may include equity and comprehensive benefits
  • Benefits include Healthcare, Dental, Vision, HSA/FSA match, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, company laptop, and more
  • Hybrid expectation: work from the Chicago office as required by the client (per authoritative job location)
