About the Role
Our confidential client is hiring an Associate Product Manager (Economy focused) to be the economic brain for their free‑to‑play games. In this role you will design, tune and monitor in‑game economies (currencies, progression, pricing and rewards), build predictive models and simulations, and run experiments that guide LiveOps and monetization decisions. This role is part of a structured onboarding program (Project Rising) that accelerates learning across product, analytics and LiveOps so you can make impact quickly.
What You’ll Do
- Help design and maintain the game economy: currencies, sources & sinks, progression pacing and virtual goods pricing, and define KPIs to measure economy health.
- Support week‑to‑week tuning of features: configurations, rewards, level progression, bonus values and offer contents.
- Build simulations and predictive models to forecast how pricing, content and balance changes will affect player behavior and KPIs.
- Plan, run and analyze A/B tests for economy and pricing changes; turn results into clear recommendations.
- Define player segments from behavioral data and test economy parameters tailored to each segment.
- Monitor economy health (player balances, inflation, source/sink ratios, conversion), flag anomalies and investigate root causes.
- Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, Marketing and Engineering to ensure the economy supports game goals; present findings to cross‑functional teams and leadership.
Collaboration & Ownership
- Co‑own economic guardrails with Monetization and LiveOps while aligning on execution and revenue targets.
- Provide the economic perspective for LiveOps events—contributing to costs, rewards and pacing—while LiveOps manages scheduling and QA.
- Translate models and experiments into actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
Minimum / Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related quantitative field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: ~2+ years experience in game economy, F2P product, LiveOps or a closely related analytical/product role.
- Strong analytical aptitude, comfortable with ambiguity, and an ownership mindset.
- Advanced spreadsheet modeling (Excel/Sheets) for balance models and simulations.
- Practical experience designing and interpreting A/B tests.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills — able to convert models into concise recommendations.
Nice to Have / Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of statistics, probability and simulation methods (for example Monte Carlo).
- Experience with Python or R for analysis and modeling.
- Background in mobile, online or social free‑to‑play games.
- Familiarity with LiveOps tooling and event operations.
- Understanding of behavioral economics and player motivation.
- Genuine passion for games and regular play of the genre(s) you support.
Benefits & Perks (high level)
- Competitive salary with annual bonus potential and 401(k) matching.
- Flexible on‑site schedule (typical in‑office days plus a work‑from‑home day).
- Ergonomic workspace with collaborative areas and a game room.
- Fully stocked kitchen, weekly lunch stipend, monthly snack stipend.
- Paid family leave, paid volunteer time, and an annual company retreat.
