What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate PGD Field Engineer to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) sites across West Florida. This hands-on, entry-level engineering role focuses on safe, reliable site operations and field maintenance. You will learn from experienced engineers while performing diagnostics, preventive and corrective maintenance, and root-cause analysis across PV arrays, inverters, transformers, and BESS equipment.

  • Spend the majority of time in the field troubleshooting, repairing, and testing solar and BESS systems.
  • Act as on-site safety lead to enforce safe work practices and environmental compliance with permits and regulations.
  • Coordinate with the Renewables Operations Control Center, OEMs, vendors, and contractors during outages, escalations, or planned maintenance.
  • Execute preventative maintenance tasks, corrective repairs, and document findings and actions.
  • Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
  • Be available for on-call rotations covering West Florida sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on diagnostic and repair work on PV systems, inverters, step-up transformers, balance-of-plant equipment, and battery systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and system performance checks.
  • Manage site safety, maintain permits and environmental compliance documentation, and report incidents.
  • Use standard engineering procedures to troubleshoot and adapt solutions under limited guidance.
  • Communicate clearly with control center staff, vendors, and contractors to resolve issues quickly.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, outages, and corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Electrical Engineering highly preferred).
  • 0+ years of relevant experience — entry-level candidates with internship, co-op, or field experience are encouraged.
  • Valid driver’s license (NON-CDL) and ability to travel to multiple West Florida sites.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in field conditions for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and a safety-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience with PV systems, power electronics, or battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures, field troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety practices and NEC standards.
  • Effective communicator who can coordinate across operations, vendors, and technical teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated annual pay (as listed in source): $81,777 per year — pay may vary based on experience and location.

Location & Travel

  • This position is based in Immokalee, FL and supports West Florida renewable generation sites.
  • Frequent fieldwork and regional travel required; occasional on-call coverage for regional sites.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform field tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Tasks include climbing, lifting, working at heights, and working around energized equipment as allowed by role and training.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and follow site safety procedures.
