Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Packaging Engineer to support the identification, development and commercialization of new and improved packaging solutions. This role leads projects from ideation through commercialization, supports technical initiatives, and collaborates across functions to improve product performance, plant efficiency and supplier relationships.

What You’ll Do

• Support the innovation stage-gate process on assigned packaging projects from ideation through commercialization.
• Lead or support multiple technical projects, from simple to complex.
• Develop ideas and solutions for cost savings, plant efficiency and quality improvements.
• Plan, execute, and analyze lab, pilot-plant and plant trials.
• Create and manage technical packaging specifications.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with packaging suppliers.
• Use prototyping and lab tools (e.g., Dynamics Lab) to qualify materials and validate designs.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Packaging, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 1 co-op or internship in CPG or 1+ years’ packaging industry experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, capabilities and equipment.
• Knowledge of physical and structural package testing procedures.
• Exposure to 2D/3D design tools (AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
• Ability to develop and follow technical specifications and performance requirements.
• Demonstrated collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver project milestones.
• Basic knowledge of polymer science and packaging performance principles.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

• Ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for approximately 75% of a workday.
• Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time).

Employment Details & Compensation

• Employment type: Full time, Permanent.
• Location: Richland, WA (on-site/plant-focused work).
• Estimated pay range: $64,900 – $97,360 per year (range provided by Confidential Client; actual pay may vary based on experience and location).
