What You’ll Do

As an Associate Packaging Engineer in Omaha, NE, you'll support packaging development, commercialization, and continuous improvement for consumer packaged goods. Primary responsibilities include:

• Support technical delivery of base-business and higher-complexity packaging projects.
• Manage smaller projects independently under guidance from senior engineering staff.
• Plan, execute and document plant trials and experiments; troubleshoot trial issues.
• Prepare clear technical reports and present findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Interpret, develop and issue packaging specifications and test plans.
• Acquire working knowledge of packaging principles, materials, production equipment and operating systems for the assigned platform.
• Monitor industry technical trends and recommend improvements or cost-reduction opportunities.
• Track project budget implications and align tasks with team fiscal and strategic plans.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams (operations, quality, procurement, R&D) to support commercialization.
• Travel up to 20–40% for trials, supplier visits and cross-site collaboration (as required).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or related field required.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant packaging or engineering experience (including internships); CPG experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of packaging materials, barrier properties, converting capabilities and common packaging equipment.
• Familiar with test methodology and packaging performance metrics (e.g., drop, compression, seal integrity, barrier testing).
• Strong collaboration skills and experience building cross-functional partnerships.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills; able to prepare concise technical reports and presentations.
• Time management and prioritization skills with a focus on delivering to deadlines.
• Moderate analytical and logical problem-solving ability.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be able to travel independently and represent the company professionally when required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $59,000 - $79,000 per year.
  • The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal equity. Confidential Client will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
