What You’ll Do
You will provide intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) during surgical procedures to help protect patient neural function. This field-based, part-time role supports surgeons and the perioperative team by collecting, labeling, analyzing, and communicating neurophysiologic data in real time. Accurate documentation, equipment readiness, and professional communication with clinical teams are essential.
Responsibilities
- Obtain detailed patient histories and consult with the surgeon on structures at risk and monitoring modalities
- Set up, verify, and maintain IONM equipment and supplies prior to each case
- Record, display, and label waveforms; measure latencies, amplitudes, and conduction times per established protocols
- Communicate monitoring findings and alerts to the surgeon and OR team throughout procedures
- Select and apply appropriate monitoring protocols and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure data quality
- Complete required documentation, IOM logs, and timely data uploads
- Follow company policies, applicable codes of conduct, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- CNIM (Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring) — active and maintained
- Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years related experience; OR advanced degree; OR equivalent work experience
- Able to maintain required hospital privileges and be eligible for medical malpractice insurance at standard rates (insurance provided by the employer)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for field-based work
- Strong time management, organization, and teamwork skills
- Effective oral and written English communication for interaction with surgeons and surgical staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) and/or Operating Room (OR) exposure
- Demonstrated technical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with neurophysiology systems
- Comfort working in a fast-paced OR environment and managing schedule variability
Travel & Physical Demands
- Field-based role with travel up to 25%
- Ability to transport and set up equipment (up to ~50 lbs) including IONM systems, laptops, and supplies
- Capacity to stand for periods, bend, use fine manual dexterity, and wear PPE (gloves, masks, gowns, goggles) as required
- Must meet any applicable vaccination or physical requirements for hospital privileges
Compensation
- Estimated pay: $76,598 per year (estimated). Actual pay may vary by location, experience, and other lawful job-related factors.
