What You’ll Do
This entry-level Associate Member Services Officer role supports branch operations and delivers high-quality member service across in-person, phone, and digital channels. You will perform routine branch duties while learning core banking processes, including cash handling, account maintenance, and basic lending and collections tasks.
- Greet and assist members courteously and professionally across channels.
- Handle cash drawer operations, run and balance tills per performance standards.
- Open and maintain basic member accounts (shares, checking, money market, Share Term Certificates) under supervision.
- Process domestic and foreign wire transfers; assist with ordering/returning foreign currency.
- Troubleshoot member account issues, disputes, and online access problems.
- Follow security, confidentiality, and regulatory procedures for member data and transactions.
- Assist with notary services and safe deposit box access, as requested.
- Organize, file, and scan branch documents daily.
- Begin training on lending, credit card products, and collection outreach; attend required collection training prior to collection duties.
- Refer members to financial advisory and real estate services when appropriate.
- Complete departmental training (e.g., Credit Union Core Module Program) within required timelines.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications and skills for success in this role:
- High school diploma or GED required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, CCUE certification, or Associate degree via NC-CTP.
- Strong customer-service orientation with the ability to build trust and member confidence.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow procedures for confidentiality, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and cross-functional collaboration.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Office/branch setting with routine interaction with members and teammates; moderate background noise (phones, printers, coin machine).
- Substantial amount of sitting; frequent use of computer keyboard and phone handset.
- Ability to lift 10–15 pounds when necessary.
- Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal job instructions and phone communications.
Compensation (Per Posting)
- Estimated base pay: $44,185 per year (as listed in source posting). Actual pay may vary based on experience and location.
