What You’ll Do
This entry-level Sustainment Associate Mechanical Engineer will support aircraft maintenance, modification, and repair activities under the direction of experienced engineers. You will apply fundamental mechanical/aerospace engineering principles to aircraft systems, structures, and installations in production, maintenance, and repair environments.
- Assist in evaluating discrepant conditions and developing engineering dispositions.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, 3D models, tolerances, and technical documentation to support MRB (Material Review Board) decision-making.
- Support troubleshooting of production and maintenance issues and help implement corrective actions.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, and Program teams — both written and verbal.
- Support program schedules which may require off-shift or overtime work.
- Work safely in aircraft hangars, flight lines, and manufacturing areas; this includes boarding/exiting aircraft and accessing confined or restricted compartments with appropriate PPE.
Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must meet the education and eligibility requirement below:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related STEM discipline — OR — completed a Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months.
- Strong critical thinking and basic engineering problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working in hangar/flight-line environments and able to follow safety procedures for confined or restricted spaces.
Preferred (but not required at application):
- Internship or co-op experience in aerospace, maintenance, or production environments.
- Familiarity with MRB processes or aircraft sustainment activities.
Location & Work Environment
- Location: Royse City, TX — on-site role; work will occur in aircraft hangars, production lines, and maintenance areas.
- This role may require occasional off‑shift or overtime work to meet delivery commitments.
- Some positions require the ability to obtain security clearance; clearance eligibility typically requires U.S. citizenship. If applicable, background checks and pre-employment substance screening may be required where permitted by law.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Employment type: Full time.
- Estimated salary (from source listing): $85,834 per year — actual pay will depend on experience and other factors.
