What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring early-career Mechanical Engineers for its Mission Systems business unit in Annapolis, MD. You will join a team that designs launcher, propulsion, and power-generation systems for naval platforms. This role is suited for recent graduates or early-career engineers who want hands-on technical experience, mentorship, and professional development.

  • Support mechanical design and analysis for marine systems components and assemblies
  • Create and revise CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks, NX, or similar)
  • Support machine design, tolerance analysis, and BOM development
  • Execute test plans and participate in subsystem integration and verification
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams (manufacturing, systems, electrical) to resolve design issues
  • Document design decisions, produce technical reports, and present results to engineering leads
  • Travel to vendor or customer sites ~10% of the time; local relocation assistance may be available

Basic Qualifications

Candidates will be considered at two levels (Associate Mechanical Engineer and Mechanical Engineer). Required for both levels unless noted:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM field from an accredited institution
    • Associate level: Bachelor’s degree completed or completing
    • Mechanical Engineer level: Master’s degree completed or completing
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Willingness/ability to obtain Special Access Program access if needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar
  • Coursework or practical experience in machine design, tolerance analysis, or mechanical testing
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle tools (PLM / PDM) and GD&T fundamentals
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Compensation & Benefits

The confidential client provides competitive compensation, benefits, and development opportunities. Salary ranges for this posting are provided below (reflecting two hiring levels):

  • Associate Mechanical Engineer: $66,200 — $99,200 per year
  • Mechanical Engineer: $79,600 — $119,400 per year

Actual offer depends on experience, education, role responsibilities, and market factors. Additional pay components may include overtime eligibility, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses. Benefits typically include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and professional development support.
