What You’ll Do
Be part of a team responsible for monitoring and managing market risk tied to crude and products trading activities. You will support daily risk control processes, produce reports, and help maintain tools and controls that inform trading and risk decisions.
- Execute daily risk-control processes and prepare risk reports alongside traders, operators and IT.
- Validate position data and reconcile discrepancies with trading desks to ensure data integrity.
- Monitor and report daily price exposure, mark-to-market and P&L to management.
- Assist in stress testing and exposure-limit analysis under senior analyst guidance.
- Support preparation of market risk metrics, including VaR and scenario analysis.
- Help develop and maintain market risk models and analytical tools.
- Participate in team meetings to communicate market factors and potential trading impacts.
- Support implementation of risk mitigation strategies and ad-hoc risk projects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by your manager.
Communication
Internal communication
- Collaborate with traders, operators, IT and the risk team to produce accurate daily reports.
- Share findings and proposed mitigations with team members and management.
- Report progress and emerging issues to your direct manager.
External communication
- Liaise with market data providers to gather inputs for risk analysis.
- Provide data and explanations to external auditors or regulators as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general analytical tools.
- Strong numerical, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience; ability to work with financial data and perform quantitative analysis.
- Familiarity with basic risk management concepts and trading instruments.
- High attention to detail and accuracy when analyzing data.
Preferred
- Familiarity with financial modeling and statistical analysis software.
- Previous internship or experience at a financial institution.
- Knowledge of stress testing, scenario analysis techniques and risk management systems.
- Proactive learning mindset and ability to adapt to changing market and regulatory conditions.
