About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Associate Interconnection Engineer to support interconnection processes for commercial rooftop solar and energy storage projects. This role is based in Asbury Park, NJ and is ideal for early-career engineers who want hands-on experience with utility interconnections, power systems, and renewable energy project delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with preparation, submission, and tracking of utility interconnection applications.
- Support utility negotiations on interconnection requirements, cost estimates, and timelines.
- Maintain and operate utility customer portal systems for application tracking.
- Review and help draft one-line diagrams, site plans, and supporting technical documents.
- Research utility infrastructure, tariffs, interconnection rules, and local policies.
- Coordinate with internal teams (design, permitting, project management) and external stakeholders (utilities, vendors) to advance applications toward approval.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field.
- Internship or practical experience in interconnection, utility coordination, power systems, or renewable energy is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple application tasks and deadlines.
- Basic familiarity with one-line electrical diagrams and common utility interconnection terminology.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for coordination with utilities and internal teams.
- Willingness to learn utility-specific portals and processes.
Compensation & Benefits
