Associate GIS Technologist
The Associate GIS Technologist is an entry-level role responsible for supporting and maintaining Confidential Client's GIS system, primarily focusing on electric distribution asset data. Compensation
Estimated: $53,452 per year (estimated).
Responsibilities
With close supervision, you will:
- Maintain and support the confidential client’s GIS system by posting, updating, and maintaining utility asset data for electric distribution.
- Review design drawings, maps, plats, redlines, and related documentation and accurately model assets in GIS.
- Gather, analyze, and maintain geospatial data used as the utility system’s system of record.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve GIS data issues and discrepancies.
- Perform QA/QC activities to ensure GIS data accuracy and completeness.
- Correct data quality errors and verify compliance with GIS business rules and standards.
- Communicate with Work Order Owners, Designers, Engineers, and Field personnel to obtain missing information.
Required / Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Science, Geology, or other related field
- OR High School/GED AND four (4) or more years related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Certified GIS professional (preferred)
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Experience in the utility or energy industry
Working Conditions
- Hybrid — work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated confidential client facility.
Specific Requirements
- Associate Degree in GIS (or equivalent), or 4+ years equivalent industry experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A GIS certificate may be considered alongside an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
Travel Requirements
- Travel as needed for field verification, training, or meetings (typical for entry-level GIS roles in utilities).

- Location: Plainfield, IN (hybrid).
