Our confidential client’s Environment & Health market is growing its geotechnical and geoenvironmental design practice. The team in Syracuse, NY is seeking an entry-level Associate Geotechnical Engineer to assist with geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering designs and to collaborate with multi-discipline project teams to deliver safe, compliant, and sustainable solutions.
What You’ll Do
As an Associate Geotechnical Engineer (entry-level to early career), you will:
- Assist in the preparation of geotechnical engineering designs for:
- Shallow foundation systems
- Deep foundation systems
- Retaining walls and excavation/shoring systems
- Slope stability analysis and design
- Assist in the preparation of geoenvironmental remedial designs for:
- Landfills
- Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites
- Federal and State Superfund projects
- Provide field oversight on drill rigs conducting geotechnical investigations
- Communicate with internal project teams and external clients to support project delivery
- Follow and promote safety philosophies, policies, and procedures to help prevent accidents
Qualifications
Specific skills and qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with concentration in Geotechnical Engineering preferred; or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 0–5 years’ experience in geotechnical and/or geoenvironmental design (entry-level candidates are welcome)
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) exam
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of geotechnical design software (examples: Ensoft, Geo-Slope, DeepEX)
- Familiarity with State and Federal environmental regulations and guidance
- Experience supporting geotechnical design and construction projects
- Commitment to jobsite and office safety practices
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated base salary range: $58,416 to $73,020 per year (range reflects expected compensation at time of posting; actual pay may vary by location, experience, education, and internal equity). This position may be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other forms of compensation.
