Associate Field Engineer 1
The Associate Field Engineer provides technical and application support for engineered fluid system solutions, working closely with sales and service centers to address client needs. This role involves developing technical competency in fluid handling products, creating P&IDs and CAD drawings, and delivering onsite troubleshooting and training. What You’ll Do
The Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Field Engineer (Entry-level Field Engineering) to support engineered fluid-system solutions. In this role you will learn and apply technical product knowledge, support sales and service centers, develop fluid handling solutions for clients, and participate in the Field Engineering training program.
- Provide technical support for inside and outside clients; accompany sales on client visits and present in meetings (≈55%).
- Review client applications and convert into P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams); check material compatibility, pressure/temperature, flow and third-party components (≈25%).
- Produce layout and assembly design deliverables using SolidWorks or other CAD; generate bills of materials (BOMs) and assembly drawings (≈10%).
- Participate in the Field Engineering program and on-the-job training (≈10%).
- Perform site evaluations, prepare technical reports, and recommend product or system improvements.
- Train and support Sales & Service Centers (SSC) on product applications and provide technical guidance for customer installations and returns.
- Track opportunities and activities in CRM; support continuous improvement projects (CAD, graphics, Excel automation).
- Participate in ongoing professional development and sales/communication training.
Key Responsibilities (Details)
- Evaluate client fluid systems to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and safety.
- Create P&IDs and fluid schematics from client documents and site assessments.
- Generate sales drawings, shop drawings, vendor machine/wrap drawings, and related technical documentation.
- Review large project bid packages and product specifications; cross-reference third-party components.
- Support product selection and technical proposals for custom solutions.
- Collaborate with Field Engineering peers and factory resources to refine solutions and feed product/service feedback.
- Maintain documentation of activities, opportunities, and KPIs in CRM.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent in a science-related field required.
- Approximately three years of relevant industry experience working with fluid controls or related products OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills
- Proven mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Comfortable interpreting client applications, equipment specifications, and producing P&IDs/fluid schematics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- SolidWorks proficiency is preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Travel, Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Onboarding includes a short-term assignment (6–12 months) in Lenexa, KS followed by Field Engineering program placement and eventual relocation.
- Must be able to travel up to 60% for client visits, training, and field work.
- Work settings include office, warehouse, client plants, and outdoor/industrial environments — may require PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe shoes).
- Ability to lift ~30 lbs regularly and up to 50–100 lbs occasionally; frequent standing, walking, and use of hands; occasional stooping, climbing, or working in elevated temperatures or noisy environments.
- Business casual attire expected for most office and client-facing days.

- Estimated pay: $62,660 per year (estimated)
