What You’ll Do
Confidential Client seeks an entry-level Associate Estimator to support preconstruction and estimating for heavy civil, earthwork, utility, and paving projects. Working under mentor guidance, you’ll help build accurate bids and learn industry estimating workflows.
- Assist senior estimating staff by reviewing plans, specifications, and addenda
- Perform initial digital quantity take-offs for earthwork, utilities, asphalt, and concrete
- Request material and equipment quotes and communicate with specialty subcontractors
- Organize and maintain bid documents, subcontractor quotes, and version-controlled plans
- Input take-off data and unit prices into estimating spreadsheets and bid templates
- Coordinate with project managers and field superintendents to confirm methods and production rates
- Prepare bid submission forms, scope clarification sheets, and client proposal packages
- Support post-bid documentation and handoff for awarded projects transitioning to operations
Qualifications
- Associate degree, Bachelor's degree (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related), or equivalent field/internship experience
- Basic ability or coursework in reading/interpreting civil blueprints and construction specifications
- Comfortable with numbers, basic geometry, and spreadsheet calculations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; able to build basic formulas in Excel
- Strong organizational skills, clear written communication, and attention to detail
- Motivated to learn estimating workflows, heavy civil construction methods, and take-off software
Preferred Experience
- Internship or 0–2 years experience in construction, field labor, or preconstruction support
- Exposure to take-off tools such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, Agtek, or HeavyBid
- Familiarity with civil sitework, dirt moving, underground utilities, or paving operations
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Edgewood office
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 annually plus performance bonuses
