Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Estimator to join an on-site estimating team in Edgewood, NM. This entry-level preconstruction role is ideal for candidates eager to learn heavy-civil estimating workflows, perform digital take-offs, and support bid assembly under mentor guidance. The position offers a clear path to grow into a full estimator role, with pay in the $50,000–$65,000 range plus performance bonuses.
What You’ll Do
Confidential Client expects a motivated team player to assist the estimating group with day-to-day pre-bid tasks, including:
- Assist senior estimators with plan/spec reviews and addenda tracking.
- Perform basic digital quantity take-offs for earthwork, utilities, asphalt, and concrete.
- Solicit material, equipment, and specialty subcontractor quotes.
- Organize and maintain bid documentation, submittals, and vendor logs.
- Input take-off quantities and unit costs into spreadsheets and bid templates.
- Coordinate with project managers and field superintendents on production rates and means/methods.
- Help prepare formal bid submittal forms, scope clarifications, and client proposal packages.
- Support post-bid documentation and handoff for awarded projects.
Qualifications
The role requires strong attention to detail, comfort with numbers, and a willingness to learn estimating systems:
- Associate degree, bachelor’s degree (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture), or equivalent hands-on/ internship experience.
- Foundational ability to read civil blueprints and construction specifications.
- Comfortable with basic geometry and spreadsheet calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel (building and using basic formulas).
- Excellent organization, clear written communication, and strong follow-through.
- Eagerness to learn take-off software and heavy civil estimating methods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Edgewood office.
Preferred Experience
These are helpful but not required for entry-level candidates:
- Internship or 0–2 years of exposure to construction, field work, or preconstruction support.
- Exposure to take-off tools such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, Agtek, or HeavyBid.
- Familiarity with civil sitework, dirt-moving, underground utilities, or paving.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $50,000 – $65,000 per year (plus performance bonuses).
