Position Overview

Confidential Client in the Energy, Oil & Gas industry is seeking an Associate Engineer to support electric distribution system planning, circuit analysis, project engineering and project management for facilities up to 69 kV (with distribution analysis for 15 kV and below). This full-time role is based in Maryville, IL and focuses on safety, reliability, cost-effectiveness and excellent customer service. The position may include field work, customer-facing interactions, and emergency storm-restoration call-outs.


What You’ll Do

  • Plan, design, cost estimate, budget and manage projects for new business, reliability improvements, government highway/local road projects, system growth, and essential maintenance.
  • Perform system planning and circuit analysis on distribution circuits (15 kV and below) and develop remediation plans as needed.
  • Facilitate and engineer Renewable Energy Resources (25 kW to 5 MW) interconnections to the distribution system.
  • Provide technical support to field engineering representatives and regional teams; perform power quality and troubleshooting analysis for customer facilities.
  • Meet with residential and commercial customers, architects, and contractors to determine service requirements and provide guidance on rates, lighting, wiring, NEC/NESC interpretations, permits and rights-of-way.
  • Prepare load analyses for distribution substations and feeders and recommend corrective actions.
  • Use company systems and engineering tools (examples: DOJM, MV90, EADMS, CSS, SYNERGI, Load Analysis, OAS, Byers) to perform analyses and document outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvements, department and region goals, and identify cost-control and productivity enhancements.
  • Participate in emergency call-out rotations for storm restoration and support field crews as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines considered depending on qualifications).
  • Power-related coursework is preferred.
  • E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) certification or P.E. (Professional Engineer) registration preferred.
  • Electrical engineering and project management experience preferred; entry-level candidates with relevant education will be considered.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills; comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and ability to learn and use utility engineering software and tools.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation range: $71,100 - $137,200 (this range covers multiple career levels; exact offer depends on experience, credentials and internal equity).

Location & Work Environment

  • Work location: Maryville, Illinois (IL). This role involves both office and field responsibilities within the region, occasional travel, and emergency on-call availability for storm restoration.
