Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Embedded Software Engineer (Manufacturing Test Engineering) to join a Manufacturing Test Engineering team in Rolling Meadows, IL. This is an entry-level, full-time engineering role focused on developing and troubleshooting embedded and test software used for manufacturing and verification of electronic hardware.

What You’ll Do

• Develop, maintain and debug embedded and test software used in manufacturing test stations.
• Implement automated test applications and scripts (C#, C, C++) to support production acceptance and debug.
• Integrate software with test instruments and hardware (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, power meters).
• Work with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, test engineering, hardware, systems) to define test requirements and deliver reliable test solutions.
• Troubleshoot test systems and prime hardware; analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
• Use version control (GitHub) and modern IDEs (Visual Studio) to manage and deploy test software.
• Support lab-level validation and document test procedures and results.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing test flows and automation.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet ALL of the following:

• Completing or completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD from an accredited institution.
• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Experience programming in C#, C, or C++.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (minimum: Secret).
• Willingness/ability to obtain Special Access Program authorization if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
• Experience in an electronic hardware manufacturing environment or in embedded/firmware design.
• Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, power supplies/meters).
• Experience developing automated test software and using LabVIEW or TestStand.
• Experience with Visual Studio and source control (GitHub).
• Prior software troubleshooting of test equipment or prime hardware.
• Active DoD security clearance (preferred).

Location & Work Conditions

• Primary location: Rolling Meadows, IL (on-site position within the manufacturing/test environment).
• Travel: approximately 10% (as required).
• U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.

Compensation

• Salary range: $72,700 — $109,100 per year (listed range reflects the Confidential Client’s pay band for this role).
