Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Embedded Software Engineer (Manufacturing Test Engineering) to join a Manufacturing Test Engineering team in Rolling Meadows, IL. This is an entry-level, full-time engineering role focused on developing and troubleshooting embedded and test software used for manufacturing and verification of electronic hardware.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, maintain and debug embedded and test software used in manufacturing test stations.
- Implement automated test applications and scripts (C#, C, C++) to support production acceptance and debug.
- Integrate software with test instruments and hardware (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, power meters).
- Work with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, test engineering, hardware, systems) to define test requirements and deliver reliable test solutions.
- Troubleshoot test systems and prime hardware; analyze failures and implement corrective actions.
- Use version control (GitHub) and modern IDEs (Visual Studio) to manage and deploy test software.
- Support lab-level validation and document test procedures and results.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing test flows and automation.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must meet ALL of the following:
- Completing or completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD from an accredited institution.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Experience programming in C#, C, or C++.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (minimum: Secret).
- Willingness/ability to obtain Special Access Program authorization if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
- Experience in an electronic hardware manufacturing environment or in embedded/firmware design.
- Experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, power supplies/meters).
- Experience developing automated test software and using LabVIEW or TestStand.
- Experience with Visual Studio and source control (GitHub).
- Prior software troubleshooting of test equipment or prime hardware.
- Active DoD security clearance (preferred).
Location & Work Conditions
- Primary location: Rolling Meadows, IL (on-site position within the manufacturing/test environment).
- Travel: approximately 10% (as required).
- U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
Compensation
- Salary range: $72,700 — $109,100 per year (listed range reflects the Confidential Client’s pay band for this role).
