What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer – Power to support delivery of electrical power system solutions. In this role you will work with multidisciplinary teams under the guidance of experienced engineers to develop technical skills, produce quality engineering deliverables, and independently execute assigned tasks on projects that may include industrial, renewable, data center, and utility infrastructure work.
- Assist with design, development, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems to meet client requirements
- Support power distribution, protection & control, or physical substation design efforts
- Perform power system studies, calculations, and modeling with industry-standard tools
- Produce and revise electrical design documents (one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, relay schematics, control panel layouts) for protection & control work
- OR produce substation deliverables (power one-lines, phasing diagrams, yard layouts, conduit plans, grounding & lighting plans, elevations, construction sequencing) for physical substation design
- Verify field device configuration and communications for network-integrated systems
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities as needed
- Support project meetings, documentation, and small-to-medium technical tasks through to completion

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology considered with relevant experience
- 0–4 years’ experience in electrical power systems engineering (entry-level candidates with internships/co-ops are encouraged)
- Working knowledge of power distribution, protection concepts, and high-voltage electrical equipment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to ~10% for site visits; passport or ability to obtain one quickly may be required
- Ability to comply with client-specific safety protocols and wear required PPE
Preferred Skills & Tools
- Exposure to power system study tools and modeling software
- Experience or coursework in protection & control or substation design
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and prepare clear design documentation
- Effective collaborator in multidisciplinary project teams
Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel
- Primarily office-based work with periodic field work in construction, industrial, or substation environments
- May require standing, climbing, lifting up to ~40 lbs, working at heights, and wearing PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, electrical safety PPE)
- Exposure to low, medium, and high-voltage equipment and construction noise/conditions
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for on-site meetings or commissioning activities
