What You’ll Do

As an Associate Electrical Engineer (Confidential Client), you'll contribute to high-voltage substation engineering and detailed design work across project phases. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Support a variety of substation projects (up to 765 kV) in detailed design and EPC delivery.
  • Develop protection & control deliverables: protective relay settings, panel arrangements, one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay panel wiring and equipment wiring.
  • Produce physical design deliverables: yard layouts, grounding and lightning protection, control building arrangements, auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
  • Perform QA/QC on engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with departmental design guides, industry codes, and client standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors; participate in design reviews and construction coordination.
  • Conduct site visits and field verification as needed.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze engineering data; perform engineering calculations using standard methods.
  • Assign and guide tasks for entry-level staff or interns and support their development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification (required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of related electrical engineering experience (entry-level to early-career).
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to collaborate across multi-discipline teams.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with substation design deliverables and protection & control systems.
  • Experience preparing equipment specifications and BOMs for procurement and construction.
  • Experience coordinating with field construction teams and participating in site verification.
