confidential client is hiring an Associate Electrical Engineer (Power System Studies — Transmission) to support transmission planning and interconnection studies in Orlando, FL. This early-career engineering role focuses on power system modeling and analysis for transmission projects and provides opportunities to develop technical skills (e.g., short-circuit and protection studies), learn industry standards, and collaborate with multi-discipline teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support transmission and power system studies, including Transmission Interconnection Studies, Reactive Power Compensation, Short-Circuit (Fault) Analysis, and Circuit Breaker Rating Analysis.
• Build and maintain system models and perform simulations using industry tools (see preferred software below).
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical deliverables, and documentation consistent with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with project leadership, internal teams, and external clients to collect data, clarify requirements, and present results.
• Continue to learn departmental design guides, codes, and best practices; support continuous improvement activities.
• Mentor entry-level staff and interns as skills develop.

Preferred qualifications

• 1–4 years’ experience performing transmission and system analysis studies.
• Familiarity with Transmission System concepts and analyses (TRV, TOV, insulation coordination, etc.).
• Hands-on experience (≥1 year) in Transmission Interconnection Studies, Reactive Power Compensation, Short-Circuit Analysis, and Circuit Breaker Rating Analysis.
• Experience with one or more system modeling tools: PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, TARA, TSAT, PSAT, or similar.
• Working knowledge of NERC standards (e.g., TPL, MOD, PRC) and regional ISOs (PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ISO-NE, NYISO).
• Familiarity with analytics and scripting (Python or similar).
• Strong written communication and ability to coordinate with team members and clients.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program (domestic or foreign equivalent).
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment checks as permitted by law (background check, drug screen, MVR, etc.).
