The Opportunity

Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer focused on Power System Studies (Transmission). In this role you will support transmission system studies and analyses—such as transmission interconnection studies, reactive power compensation, short-circuit (fault) analysis, circuit breaker rating assessment, and related system modeling—to support transmission design and project delivery. This position is well suited for early-career engineers with 1–4 years of relevant experience who want to develop technical skills across studies, modeling tools, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–4 years performing transmission and system analysis studies
• Understanding of transmission system design concepts, analyses, and calculations
• Experience with transmission interconnection studies, reactive power compensation, short-circuit (fault) analysis, and circuit breaker rating analysis (1+ year)
• Hands-on experience with one or more system modeling tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, TARA, TSAT, PSAT, or similar
• Knowledge of additional power system studies used in transmission design (TRV, TOV, insulation coordination, etc.)
• Familiarity with NERC standards (TPL, MOD, PRC)
• Familiarity with U.S. ISOs/RTOs (PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, CAISO, ISO‑NE, NYISO)
• Comfort with analytics or scripting (Python or similar)
• Strong written communication and ability to coordinate with team members and clients
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Engineering‑in‑Training (EIT) certification is preferred

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (which may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, as permitted by law)

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and apply departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes and policies
• Prepare engineering deliverables, calculations, and recommendations for equipment and materials selection
• Collect, manage, and analyze data required for engineering work; prepare standard engineering calculations and reports
• Support production of increasingly complex engineering deliverables while adhering to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
• Coordinate with project leadership, multi-disciplinary teams, and external clients on less complex projects
• Assist in developing entry-level staff and interns by assigning tasks and providing guidance
• Support continuous improvement efforts and share knowledge of technologies and processes
• Contribute to client communications and, where appropriate, to business development or pursuit activities

In accordance with local requirements, the annual compensation ranges for this role are listed below by state or jurisdiction and reflect applicable office locations. Final compensation is determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.

• State of Colorado: 91,047–152,053
• State of Minnesota: 86,909–145,142
