Confidential Client is a leading cultural institution that shares rich collections with its city and the world. The Exhibition Design team leads institution-wide efforts to design temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, partnering with curatorial departments and operational teams to deliver engaging visitor experiences. The team also oversees production schedules and project budgets that enable successful builds and installations.
This role is a Special Projects, one‑year term supporting campus expansion and institutional planning initiatives across the campus.
What You’ll Do
- Support campus and institutional special projects by developing design studies, preparing drawings and presentation materials, and maintaining project documentation and communication.
- Produce layouts, elevations, presentation graphics, and other visual materials to communicate design intent and project goals.
- Generate maquettes and scale models to assist planning of permanent collection gallery layouts.
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of project files, drawing packages, and presentation archives.
- Collaborate across departments — including Facilities, Curatorial, Capital Programs — and with external consultants, designers, and architects to ensure project continuity.
- Develop design concepts for exhibition display solutions (casework, label rails, stanchions) tailored to diverse gallery needs.
- Prepare concept renderings, interior elevations, case layouts, case schedules, and fabrication documentation as needed.
- Take notes, prepare follow-up materials after internal workshops and stakeholder sessions, and maintain organized digital archives and project records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of professional or internship experience supporting design and/or architectural projects, preferably at cultural institutions.
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated creative and design skills within architecture, exhibition design, industrial design, or interior design.
- Experience drafting and preparing fabrication drawing packages; familiarity with fabrication details and production supervision. Strong understanding of materials and production processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams in fast-paced project environments.
- Proficiency with CAD and 3D tools such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, SketchUp, Rhino, or Revit preferred; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite expected.
- Comfortable communicating through digital collaboration tools and organizing/interpreting architectural drawings and visual materials.
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and time management.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; able to remain stationary approximately 50% of the time.
- Frequent movement through campus galleries and offices; able to travel between buildings and be present for in-gallery activities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Range: $53,000–$65,000 per year.
- Job Classification: Exempt
