What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for an entry-level Associate Data Scientist to join a data team focused on predictive modeling, analytics, and model lifecycle execution. In this role you will apply statistical techniques, build routine models, and communicate findings to stakeholders to drive business decisions.
- Design, develop, test, and evaluate routine predictive models and algorithms
- Perform exploratory data analysis and trend modeling to identify patterns and opportunities
- Write, maintain, and document code for data processing and model implementation (Python, R, SQL)
- Participate in model lifecycle activities: training, validation, deployment support, and monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business questions into analytics projects
- Produce clear technical documentation and present findings using data storytelling techniques
- Follow data governance, validation, and reproducibility best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- ~1 year of relevant experience in exploratory data analysis, modeling, or analytics
- Solid understanding of statistics, hypothesis testing, and basic machine learning concepts
- Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one of: Python or R
- Familiarity with common analytics and big-data tools (examples include Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, AWS) is a plus
- Basic experience or exposure to model lifecycle execution (training, validation, deployment)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical results to non-technical stakeholders
- Critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to work well in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
- Prior experience working in financial services or regulated industries (preferred)
- Experience with productionizing models in cloud environments (AWS) or using MLOps practices
Hours & Location
- Employment type: Full-time
- Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Location: Winchester, VA (onsite or as required by the Confidential Client)
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range (provided by the employer): $70,000 — $118,050 per year. Actual pay is based on experience, location, and market factors.
- Benefits: Confidential Client offers competitive pay and benefits consistent with Financial Services industry practice (medical, retirement, paid time off, etc.). Specific benefit details are provided during the hiring process.
