Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Associate Data Scientist to support model development, exploratory analysis, and data-driven recommendations. This is an entry-level / early-career role working on predictive models, data pipelines, and reporting to help inform business decisions across the organization.

• Location: Vienna, VA (primary)
• Employment type: Contract
• Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Estimated pay: $99,736 per year (estimated)

What You’ll Do

You will work with cross-functional teams to turn data into actionable insights and maintain components of the model lifecycle.

• Design, develop, and evaluate routine predictive models and algorithms
• Perform exploratory and trend analysis to identify patterns and opportunities
• Develop and maintain code for data pipelines, models, and automated processes
• Interpret and communicate analysis results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Support team projects, including model validation and documentation
• Contribute to technical writing and presentation of findings

Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate foundational skills in data science and a strong willingness to learn.

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 1–2 years of experience in exploratory data analysis or related internships/projects
• Experience with SQL and at least one of: Python or R
• Familiarity with statistics, data modeling, and model lifecycle concepts
• Experience with or exposure to tools such as Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Scala, or cloud platforms (AWS)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical findings
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; collaborative mindset

Preferred (Desired) Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering
• Prior experience in financial services or credit union environments
• Exposure to production model deployment and monitoring
