Role Summary
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an Associate Data Scientist to join its Analytics & Insights team. This is a full-time, telecommute-eligible role based for this posting in Philadelphia, PA. The role focuses on finance and operations analytics — turning large, complex datasets into actionable insights that improve operational performance and financial outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Support analytics for finance and operations by obtaining, validating, and modeling large datasets.
- Query and join data from the data lake (Snowflake) to answer ad hoc business questions.
- Prepare written analyses and clear visual summaries for business stakeholders.
- Provide analytical support interpreting financial and operational data and trends.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver timely insights.
- Capture, document, and share reporting and analysis best practices with teammates.
- Contribute to strategic projects and demonstrate continual upskilling (including emerging tools like generative AI use cases).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the business.
How You’ll Spend Your Day
- Writing and optimizing SQL queries against Snowflake to extract and join required data.
- Building data models and visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, or Python/R libraries).
- Running applied statistical analyses and communicating results to non-technical audiences.
- Automating data processing tasks and improving repeatable workflows.
- Working cross-functionally to translate business questions into analytic deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, finance, business, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of practical experience in data science or analytics roles.
- Solid foundation in applied statistical analysis (probability distributions, hypothesis testing, A/B testing, statistical significance).
- Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL; advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Snowflake / Snowpark is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to extract, clean, join, and manipulate large datasets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to break down business problems into analytical approaches.
- Ability to present findings clearly using visualization tools.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Experience working on finance or operations analytics.
- Familiarity with distributed databases and handling large-scale datasets.
- Prior exposure to model evaluation, supervised and unsupervised learning methods (e.g., regression, trees, clustering).
- Knowledge of Power BI or Tableau, and visualization libraries in Python/R.
- Interest in practical applications of generative AI and advanced analytical techniques.
