Role summary
Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Data Scientist to apply machine learning, optimization, and advanced analytics to supply‑chain problems. This early‑career, full‑time role focuses on predictive and prescriptive modeling (demand forecasting, inventory optimization, integrated planning) and requires strong hands‑on experience in Python, Databricks, Azure (or equivalent cloud), and modern AI/GenAI techniques.
What You’ll Do
You will join a cross‑functional planning and analytics team to design and deliver scalable analytics solutions that improve supply‑chain outcomes.
- Develop prescriptive and predictive analytics (demand forecasting, inventory optimization, integrated planning, and risk mitigation).
- Build and evangelize modeling approaches using machine learning, simulation, and mathematical optimization.
- Implement reproducible, scalable solutions in Python and Databricks; leverage Azure or equivalent cloud tooling.
- Apply GenAI/AI techniques and prompt engineering where appropriate to accelerate analytics workflows.
- Translate analytics into compelling, business‑focused storytelling to influence stakeholders and drive adoption.
- Collaborate across product, delivery, sales/account management, and technology to align analytics with client priorities.
- Mentor and enable teammates on problem formulation, data preparation, model development, and result interpretation.
- Contribute to thought leadership on emerging analytics technologies and supply‑chain best practices.
Minimum qualifications
- Master’s degree in operations research, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, or closely related field; PhD preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant analytics / data science experience (or equivalent with a Bachelor’s and strong focus on predictive modeling).
- Demonstrated experience with forecasting, optimization, simulation, or other advanced analytic methods applied to supply chain.
- Advanced proficiency in Python; experience with Databricks, cloud platforms (Azure preferred), and machine learning/tooling for GenAI.
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting to stakeholders and influencing decisions.
- Proven track record of delivering business‑relevant analytics solutions.
Nice‑to‑haves
- Familiarity with food service, restaurant operations, demand planning, and distribution/logistics.
- Experience with prompt engineering, GenAI model application, or production ML deployment pipelines.
Location & work model
This is a hybrid position based at 345 N Morgan St, Chicago, IL 60607. Candidates must reside in the Chicago metropolitan area. Relocation assistance is not offered at this time.
Compensation & total rewards
- Starting base salary: $90,000–$105,000 per year.
- Targeted bonus: 5% (target).
