Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Data Engineer to join an AI & Analytics practice in Lansing, MI. This is an early-career, full-time consulting role focused on data engineering fundamentals, cloud data platforms, and applied AI & analytics. You will work on client projects across industries, receive structured mentorship, and gain hands-on experience with modern data tools.
What You’ll Do
As an Associate Data Engineer you will:
- Help transform raw data into reliable, analyzable datasets that enable business decisions.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering patterns.
- Work with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Support data quality, data modeling, and performance tuning for analytics workloads.
- Assist with cloud data platform tasks (provisioning, ingestion, monitoring).
- Document work, communicate findings, and present technical results to both technical and business audiences.
Required technical & professional qualifications
- Currently completing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Java.
- Basic understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts.
- Exposure to AI / Machine Learning concepts (coursework, projects, or certifications).
- Some experience or coursework with cloud technologies, modern data platforms, or data architectures.
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated practical application of programming or analytical skills via coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons.
Preferred experience
- Hands-on exposure to analytics, business intelligence, or cloud-based data projects.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and basic machine learning workflows.
- Coursework or projects using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or modern data stacks.
Compensation & location
- Location: Lansing, MI (on-site or hybrid as required by client project).
- Estimated salary: $70,289 per year (estimated by source). Final compensation and benefits are determined by the hiring organization and may vary.
