Overview

Confidential Client is looking for an Associate Data Engineer to join their AI & Analytics practice in Dimondale, MI. This is an entry-level / early-career opportunity for candidates who are completing or recently completed a relevant bachelor's degree and want hands-on experience building data solutions, working with cloud and analytics technologies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client hires Associates to help clients transform data into actionable insights. As an Associate Data Engineer you will:

  • Work with experienced data engineers, data scientists, AI specialists, and consultants on real client engagements.
  • Build, test, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes for analytics and AI workloads.
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, storage, and basic data modeling on modern data platforms.
  • Assist in documenting data solutions and communicating technical findings to both technical and business audiences.
  • Participate in learning programs, mentorship, and certification opportunities to grow technical and consulting skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support design and implementation of data pipelines using SQL, Python, and related tools.
  • Assist with data profiling, cleansing, and validation to ensure high data quality.
  • Help deploy and maintain datasets on cloud or hybrid data platforms.
  • Collaborate with teams to translate business questions into data and analytic requirements.
  • Contribute to automation, testing, and performance tuning of data workflows.
  • Participate in client meetings and present insights in clear, audience-appropriate ways.

Who We’re Looking For / Qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (completed or near completion) in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts.
  • Introductory knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI concepts through coursework, projects, or self-study.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies, modern data platforms, or data architectures (coursework, labs, internships, hackathons).
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated application of programming or analytical skills via projects, internships, coursework, or personal learning.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Exposure to analytics, business intelligence, or cloud-based data projects.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and ML concepts.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git), SQL tuning, or basic automation is beneficial.
