About the Role

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an Associate Data Engineer to join its AI & Analytics practice. This is an entry-level, full-time role based in Cheektowaga, NY where you’ll work on real client projects across industries (healthcare, finance, public sector, automotive, energy, retail, manufacturing and more). You will receive mentorship, hands-on experience, and opportunities for professional development and certifications while contributing to cloud data platforms, analytics, and AI-driven solutions.


What You’ll Do

  • Support data engineering efforts to transform raw data into reliable, consumable datasets for analytics and AI.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, consultants, and business stakeholders on client engagements.
  • Write and maintain code for data ingestion, transformation, and validation (Python, SQL, or similar).
  • Work with databases, modern data platforms, and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Help implement reproducible data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Assist with documentation, data quality checks, and communicating technical findings to both technical and business audiences.
  • Participate in structured learning, certifications, and hands-on client work to grow technical and consulting skills.

Qualifications

Required (foundational / entry-level)

  • Currently completing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of programming (Python, SQL, Java, or similar).
  • Understanding of databases, data structures, and analytics concepts.
  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts (coursework, projects, certifications, or self-study).
  • Experience exploring cloud technologies or modern data platforms through coursework, projects, labs, hackathons, or internships.
  • Ability to explain technical findings and data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated application of programming, data, or analytical skills via projects, internships, or coursework.

Preferred

  • Exposure to analytics, business intelligence, or cloud-based data projects.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, ML concepts, cloud platforms, or modern analytics solutions.
  • Eagerness to learn, a growth mindset, and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Education & Employment Details

  • Employment type: FULL_TIME
  • Required education: Bachelor’s Degree (completed or near completion)
  • Location: Cheektowaga, NY (onsite / client-facing as required by projects)

  • Estimated salary (from source posting): $81,943 per year (estimated).
