Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Associate Cybersecurity Specialist to join their cybersecurity practice in Dimondale, MI. This role provides hands-on client project experience, mentorship, and opportunities for certification and professional development while working across security monitoring, threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and cloud security fundamentals.


What You’ll Do

  • Support client cybersecurity programs across threat detection, monitoring, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
  • Assist with security assessments, basic threat analysis, and remediation recommendations.
  • Contribute to configuration and tuning of security monitoring tools and playbooks.
  • Help document findings, produce reports, and present technical information clearly to client teams.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (security consultants, architects, analysts, AI specialists) to enable secure digital transformation and AI adoption.
  • Continually learn through formal training, certifications, labs, and mentorship.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid — approximately 1 day per week in-office based on project requirements.

Compensation

  • Estimated base salary: $67,275 per year (estimated). Final pay will depend on skills, experience, and location.

Required Education & Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s Degree (completed or near completion) in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship; Confidential Client will not provide visa sponsorship for this role.

Required Technical & Professional Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, and information security concepts.
  • Understanding of common cyber threats, vulnerabilities, attack techniques, and security best practices.
  • Exposure to security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, identity & access management, or risk management through coursework, labs, projects, competitions, or internships.
  • Foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence / Generative AI and associated security considerations.
  • Exposure to cloud technologies or enterprise environments and familiarity with basic security tools or concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical or technical skills via academic projects, labs, internships, or personal learning.

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on exposure to cybersecurity operations, threat management, governance, risk, or compliance projects.
  • Experience or coursework involving security monitoring tools, threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, or recognized frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze security risks and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
