Role overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Associate Counselor to join its Graduate Development Program. This structured training program provides mentorship and hands-on experience to develop leaders in higher education, enrollment management, student success, and customer service. The Associate Counselor will be a primary point of contact for prospective and newly enrolled students, guiding them through admissions and supporting their transition into the university community.


What You'll Do

  • Contact online and phone-based prospects in a timely, professional manner to share program information and next steps
  • Guide prospects through pre-evaluation and admission steps
  • Advise prospective students on program requirements, transfer credit evaluation, and admission guidelines
  • Listen, probe, and match prospects to appropriate programs based on their needs
  • Explain payment options and help prospects understand financial next steps
  • Communicate institutional values, benefits, and differentiators clearly and professionally
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policy and procedural changes and incorporate them into daily work
  • Participate in mentorship programs and leadership development courses
  • Monitor student activity and benchmarks to support academic progression
  • Meet daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals as defined by management
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., FERPA and Do-Not-Call rules)
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and standard office tools proficiently

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree earned from Grand Canyon University within the last two years (required)
  • Internship, campus leadership, volunteer, customer service, sales, or related experience preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in professional development and career growth
  • Experience working in higher education or other student-facing learning environments preferred
  • Must not be delinquent or in default on a federal student loan, unless current in a rehabilitation program and showing current payments
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: $40,000 per year (starting salary as listed in the source)
  • Affordable on-campus housing/rent opportunities available
  • Generous tuition benefits: 100% tuition coverage for employees up to Master’s degree level; 75% coverage toward Doctorate programs. Spouse, children, and dependents may also be eligible for tuition benefits.
  • Additional benefits package available through the employer (health, retirement, etc.)

Location & Schedule

  • On-campus role based in Phoenix, AZ (Confidential Client campus)
  • Typical schedule: four 9-hour days per week
  • This is an entry-level, mission-driven role that requires in-person campus presence
