Associate Clinical Engineer — Overview
Confidential Client (Healthcare & Nursing) is hiring an Associate Clinical Engineer in Englewood, CO. This entry-level, full-time role supports the design and verification of patient-specific, additively manufactured implants and surgical guides for lower-extremity procedures. You will work closely with surgeons, development and quality engineers, and external suppliers to convert medical imaging into cleared, manufacturable device designs.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end design workflow for patient-specific 3D-printed implants and instruments, from imaging to final design verification.
- Review and interpret medical imaging (CT scans, X‑rays) and convert DICOM data into usable 3D models.
- Create and refine virtual surgical plans and patient-matched guide designs.
- Communicate directly with surgeons to gather clinical requirements and obtain approvals for patient-specific plans.
- Observe surgeries (live, cadaver, or recorded) as needed to validate clinical intent.
- Interface with third-party suppliers, contractors, and testing houses to support manufacturing and validation.
- Produce detailed case documentation, design reports, and quality records.
- Perform quality checks to ensure designs meet released specifications.
- Collaborate with development and quality engineering on project-related issues and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Shorten design and review cycles through clear surgeon communication and accurate virtual planning.
- Ensure traceability and quality in patient-matched device documentation.
- Support cross-functional projects that move concepts through development to release.
Qualifications & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Entry level: 0–2 years of clinical or medical device design experience.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong 3D visualization skills.
- Proficient with 3D design (parametric or surface modeling) software.
- Experience or coursework with SolidWorks 3D CAD; Materialise 3-matic preferred.
- Familiarity with Materialise Mimics and working with DICOM imaging is a plus.
- Knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes relevant to additive manufacturing.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Basic knowledge of human anatomy and biomechanics (lower-extremity preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Travel & Compensation
- Travel: 0%–10% overnight travel may be required.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $50,000 – $70,000 USD annually (dependent on skills and experience).
- Location: Englewood, CO (on-site or location requirements per client policy).
