Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring for one open role to be filled at either the Associate Civil Engineer level or the Civil Engineer level based on qualifications. Both positions sit in the Capital Improvements Program (CIP) group and support roadway, bridge, stormwater drainage, and traffic operations projects. Summary of what you'll do
Confidential Client seeks an engineer with construction management and civil engineering skills to support CIP projects from design through construction. Typical responsibilities include managing or tracking project budgets, reviewing and developing plans and specifications, performing engineering calculations and feasibility work, inspecting construction, coordinating with contractors and agencies, and responding to citizen questions and community groups.
- Manage or track project budgets and cost estimates
- Review contractor project schedules and construction plans/specifications
- Perform engineering analysis and calculations for roadway, bridge, drainage, and traffic projects
- Lead or assist CAD/Civil 3D design and modeling for capital improvements
- Inspect construction work and document observations for compliance with plans and standards
- Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, survey crews, Right‑of‑Way staff, and other County or agency personnel
- Represent Confidential Client at project meetings and community outreach when assigned
- Provide input on constructability and long‑term maintenance during plan review
- Other related duties as assigned
Compensation & benefits
Pay transparency (posted hiring ranges reflect the role levels; compensation is determined by experience, education, and skills):
- Associate Civil Engineer — Hiring Range: $85,000 to $98,500 USD annually
- Civil Engineer — Hiring Range: $100,000 to $114,500 USD annually

Schedule, location & travel
- Full‑time (40 hours per week)
- Hybrid schedule: primarily office work with occasional remote and field work as needed
- Must be able to drive to project sites across unincorporated jurisdictional areas, walk on uneven terrain in various weather conditions, and compare existing site conditions to construction plans
Minimum qualifications
Note: intent is to fill one available position at either level; applicants do not need to self‑select the level.
Associate Civil Engineer (minimum)
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or related field
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in civil engineering, roadway construction, or related field
- License/Certifications: Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) / Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) required at time of hire
- Preferred skills:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, Cartegraph/OpenGov, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat Pro
- HEC‑RAS, HY‑8 for hydraulic analyses
- Experience with construction plan development and public‑sector projects
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate across disciplines
Civil Engineer (minimum)
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or related field
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in civil engineering, roadway construction, or related field
- License/Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license required at time of hire
- Preferred skills:
- Advanced use of AutoCAD Civil 3D; CAD modeling leadership for CIP projects
- Preparing and reviewing drainage reports, scopes of work, specifications, and design memorandums
- Public‑sector project delivery experience, construction oversight, and community engagement
- Ability to lead meetings and present to boards or commissions
