Position overview
This entry-level Associate Business Data Analyst role supports a Confidential Client’s Data Intelligence team. In a structured learning environment you will assist with data collection, validation, reporting, and documentation while developing analytical skills and familiarity with the ELT data architecture that powers enterprise reporting. The role is based in Topeka, KS, with hybrid and remote options available for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with data collection, extraction, and preparation from established sources (cloud data warehouse, operational extracts) under senior guidance
- Support production of standard reports and dashboards by assembling and formatting inputs per documented processes
- Execute data validation checks against quality rules; document exceptions and escalate discrepancies
- Maintain data mapping documentation, data dictionaries, and process flow diagrams for assigned data products
- Assist with testing activities, including running pre-written test scripts, logging results, and supporting UAT coordination
- Observe and document stakeholder meetings, note requirements, and track action items
- Help develop requirements artifacts (data flow diagrams, functional specs) under direction
- Learn and apply ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) data architecture patterns and document source-to-product lineage
- Perform other analytical and documentation duties to support team delivery goals
What we’re looking for (minimum qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 0–2 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or a related analytical role (internships/coursework accepted)
- Foundational understanding of relational data structures, data quality concepts, and basic reporting
- Familiarity with or strong interest in learning data querying tools (SQL, Snowflake)
- Exposure to data visualization/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills; reliable follow-through on processes
- Good written and verbal communication; ability to ask clarifying questions and collaborate effectively
- Financial services, retirement, or insurance industry exposure is helpful but not required
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Coursework or projects involving SQL, Snowflake, or cloud data warehouses
- Prior experience supporting dashboards or BI report production
- Familiarity with ELT/data lineage concepts
Compensation & employment type
- Employment type: Contract, Full time
- Reported/estimated pay (from source posting): $47,050 per year (estimated) — exact compensation will be confirmed by the Confidential Client during hiring. Compensation is posted in compliance with applicable laws.
