What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Associate Application Developer (entry-level COBOL developer). You will join a team building and maintaining business-critical enterprise applications, learn mainframe development, and contribute to production support and enhancement work.
- Learn COBOL programming and mainframe/enterprise application development through structured, paid training.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and implement software solutions.
- Debug and troubleshoot application issues; participate in root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA, and project stakeholders.
- Participate in testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Document technical solutions, code changes, and support procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics Education, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; comfortable with logical and structured thinking.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Quick ability to learn new technologies and follow technical training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Background
We strongly encourage candidates from quantitative and technical disciplines, including:
- Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science
- Mathematics Education (teachers seeking transition into technology)
- Physics or other highly quantitative disciplines

Compensation & Location
- Estimated salary: $91,404 per year (estimated by source).
