Position overview
This opportunity is for an Associate AI Solutions Architect supporting a confidential client in the IT industry. This is an entry-level, technical individual-contributor role within an AI Enablement function that helps mission teams adopt approved AI tools, secure compute, and repeatable workflows. You will work on defined tasks with guidance from senior staff to implement, test, document, and support AI-enabled applications and workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Support technical and mission-user discussions: ask clarifying questions, document objectives, workflows, data needs, and constraints for senior review.
- Implement, test, and document defined components of AI-enabled applications and workflows using approved tools, APIs, data sources, and development templates with guidance.
- Follow established security, data-handling, and responsible-AI procedures; document results, limitations, and escalate issues when needed.
- Troubleshoot basic application, API, data, or environment issues using established procedures; record findings and request assistance for issues beyond scope.
- Adapt and maintain prompt examples, starter kits, workflow components, and reproducible templates for assigned use cases.
- Assist with demonstrations, training materials, office hours, and routine user support; capture feedback to improve team guidance.
- Build working relationships with AI Enablement colleagues, platform and security teams, and mission users; communicate progress and complete assigned tasks.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Foundational programming, software development, data handling, and AI/ML knowledge demonstrated via coursework, projects, internships, research, or related experience.
- Basic familiarity with applied AI concepts, AI/ML workflows, LLM tools or APIs, software services, or developer environments, and the ability to learn approved tools.
- Ability to implement and test defined technical tasks, document results, and follow existing procedures with guidance from senior staff.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to receive feedback, ask clarifying questions, and collaborate effectively.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government security clearance within one year of hire. Per government requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum on-site presence of 3 days per week in Tysons Corner, VA.
Preferred qualifications
- Coursework, projects, internships, or research in applied AI, machine learning, or related areas.
- Exposure to LLM APIs, agentic workflows, retrieval-enabled systems, or enterprise AI tools through projects or internships.
- Hands-on practice building or testing AI-enabled applications, prompt workflows, API integrations, retrieval prototypes, or data-processing components using Python or another language.
- Experience explaining technical concepts, building demos, creating tutorials, or helping others learn software or AI capabilities.
- Familiarity with version control, automated testing, containers, cloud services, and software delivery practices.
- Awareness of access controls, data sensitivity, secure computing practices, and working inside approved secure environments.
- Experience preparing, cleaning, organizing, or retrieving data for analysis and AI projects.
- Strong documentation skills: README files, setup instructions, reproducible examples, and test cases.
- Active Secret clearance is a plus.
Compensation & work location
- Salary range: $97,600 — $146,400 annually (midpoint $122,000).
- Work location type: Hybrid — Tysons Corner, VA (minimum 3 days on-site per week).
- Employment type: Full-time.
