Role overview
Confidential Client is hiring a new-college-graduate Associate AI & Data Engineering Engineer based in Warren, MI (hybrid). This entry-level engineering role offers hands-on experience across data pipelines, machine learning workflows, backend services, and front-end components. You'll work with experienced engineers on production-facing systems and modern AI infrastructure while building strong foundational engineering skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, analytics workflows, and datasets that support machine learning and data-driven systems
- Contribute to design, training, evaluation, and deployment of ML models under guidance from senior engineers and data scientists
- Support AI infrastructure work — containerized workloads, batch processing, and model-serving APIs
- Write production-quality code (Python, Java, or Go as applicable)
- Build UI components or dashboards using React or standard web technologies
- Follow engineering best practices: version control, testing, documentation, and code reviews
- Collaborate in sprint planning, design discussions, and technical reviews
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (recent or upcoming graduate)
- Strong programming fundamentals and familiarity with data structures and algorithms
- Basic database knowledge (SQL or NoSQL)
- Foundational understanding of data science / ML concepts (model training and evaluation)
- Familiarity with at least one modern front-end framework or a willingness to learn
- Comfortable working in Linux-based environments and using developer tools (Git, CLI, build systems)
- Interest in cloud, AI, and platform technologies
Preferred qualifications (competitive edge)
- Internship, research project, or academic experience in ML, data engineering, cloud platforms, or software development
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or workflow orchestration systems
- Experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow
- Experience building web interfaces, dashboards, or interactive visualizations
- Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
What success looks like in the first 3–6 months
- Contributing meaningful code to production or pre-production systems
- Owning tasks related to AI infrastructure, data pipelines, ML workflows, or application components
- Gaining a working understanding of team architecture, tools, and deployment processes
- Demonstrating initiative in learning new technologies and participating in technical discussions
- Building confidence in debugging, documenting, and collaborating across the engineering lifecycle
Work arrangement & location
- Work arrangement: Hybrid — expected to be on-site at least three times per week
- Location: Warren, MI (Confidential Client’s Warren technical center — Cole Engineering Center)
- Estimated salary: $100,733 per year (estimated)
