Role overview
This Associate Engineer, Transmission Lines opportunity is an entry-level transmission engineering role supporting high-voltage overhead utility design, modeling, and construction support. The position is hybrid and based in Julington Creek, FL. Careertakes is helping a confidential client find candidates with strong fundamentals in transmission line design, PLS-CADD modeling, and foundation/structure evaluations.
What You’ll Do
- Support transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) overhead utility systems.
- Coordinate survey activities and prepare plan/profile documents.
- Build and validate PLS-CADD models; run structure checks and stringing charts.
- Spot structures, evaluate clearances and structural utilization, and suggest mitigations.
- Develop and analyze foundation options (e.g., FAD, FD6, APile, LPile).
- Prepare material specifications, work order packages, release letters and procurement input.
- Evaluate constructability and provide engineering commentary on design alternatives.
- Estimate man-hours and schedule completion dates for assigned tasks.
- Support permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and on-site construction support when needed.
- Manage multiple tasks across concurrent projects and communicate technical findings to stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
- EI/EIT certification (preferred).
- 1+ years of transmission line or electric utility-related engineering experience (preferred).
- Experience using PLS-CADD and related PLS software suite (preferred).
- Familiarity with design codes and standards: NESC, IEEE, ASCE and ACI.
- Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, calculations, sketches and correspondence.
- Strong problem-solving skills: research issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Self-starter who performs well in a varied, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to follow safety procedures at all times.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and meet the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
Work environment & schedule
- Hybrid work environment; on-site presence as required for project work and construction support.

- Estimated pay (source listing): $101,542 per year (estimated).
