Role overview

This Associate Engineer, Transmission Lines opportunity is an entry-level transmission engineering role supporting high-voltage overhead utility design, modeling, and construction support. The position is hybrid and based in Julington Creek, FL. Careertakes is helping a confidential client find candidates with strong fundamentals in transmission line design, PLS-CADD modeling, and foundation/structure evaluations.


What You’ll Do

  • Support transmission line design projects for high-voltage (HV) overhead utility systems.
  • Coordinate survey activities and prepare plan/profile documents.
  • Build and validate PLS-CADD models; run structure checks and stringing charts.
  • Spot structures, evaluate clearances and structural utilization, and suggest mitigations.
  • Develop and analyze foundation options (e.g., FAD, FD6, APile, LPile).
  • Prepare material specifications, work order packages, release letters and procurement input.
  • Evaluate constructability and provide engineering commentary on design alternatives.
  • Estimate man-hours and schedule completion dates for assigned tasks.
  • Support permitting, vendor/subcontractor coordination and on-site construction support when needed.
  • Manage multiple tasks across concurrent projects and communicate technical findings to stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
  • EI/EIT certification (preferred).
  • 1+ years of transmission line or electric utility-related engineering experience (preferred).
  • Experience using PLS-CADD and related PLS software suite (preferred).
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards: NESC, IEEE, ASCE and ACI.
  • Ability to prepare accurate technical reports, calculations, sketches and correspondence.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: research issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter who performs well in a varied, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and meet the company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Work environment & schedule

  • Hybrid work environment; on-site presence as required for project work and construction support.
