Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Assistant Transportation Engineer (Geotechnical) to support the design and construction of transportation structures (primarily bridges). This position performs a range of moderately complex geotechnical engineering tasks that support project development, final design, and construction monitoring.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and inspect subsurface exploration programs (drilling, sampling, field logging)
- Develop and coordinate laboratory testing programs
- Evaluate subsurface conditions and soil/rock data
- Develop bridge foundation alternatives and identify geotechnical constraints
- Prepare geotechnical engineering evaluations, design reports, and calculation packages
- Provide periodic field support during subsurface explorations and geotechnical construction activities
- Coordinate with design teams, construction personnel, and external consultants
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field —OR—
- Non-engineering degree holders or non-degreed candidates must possess Certification as an Engineer‑Intern (EIT) issued by the applicable State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
- Ability and willingness to perform periodic field work.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Prior geotechnical experience (field or office) is preferred
- Familiarity with subsurface exploration methods and lab testing programs
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and calculation packages
- Strong technical writing and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and in teams; good communication skills

- Salary range: $56,867.20 – $79,747.20 per year
