Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Traveling Assistant Superintendent (Entry Level) based in Chesterfield, MO. This hands-on role supports Project Superintendents and Project Managers to deliver safe, on-time, high-quality commercial construction projects. This position is ideal for a motivated construction professional with on-site supervisory experience who wants to grow into larger project leadership responsibilities and is open to travel between job sites.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant Superintendent will support day-to-day field operations to maintain schedule, quality, safety and budget performance on assigned projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct, coordinate and monitor on-site construction activities.
  • Work closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager on planning and supervising field work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and contract documents to plan procedures.
  • Enforce safety and quality standards; conduct audits and inspections.
  • Track and record personnel, production and operational data.
  • Conduct weekly issues/status meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Identify project risks, recommend solutions and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Assist with project closeout and demobilization activities.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and support repeat business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate an early-career track record in commercial construction supervision and the ability to work on varied project types:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years’ on-site supervisory experience in commercial construction (foreman or similar roles acceptable).
  • Prior supervision on ground-up projects of ~$5M+ preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of construction principles, methods and best practices.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings, specs and schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Physically able to walk job sites, climb ladders/scaffolding and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented and safety-focused.
