Assistant Project Manager
The Assistant Project Manager supports Project Managers in executing construction projects by managing submittals, closeout documentation, and coordinating project information among stakeholders. This primarily office-based, entry-level role offers development opportunities in estimating, scheduling, and increased field responsibilities, contributing to effective project delivery within a mechanical contracting environment.

Essential Functions
An employee in this role must be able to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Manage project-specific submittals, including preparation, tracking, and follow-up through approval.
- Coordinate startup reports, test & balance reports, and controls commissioning documentation with field staff and subcontractors.
- Assemble O&M manuals and closeout packages.
- Prepare foreman books and project document packages for active jobs.
- Track and close out active-job follow-up items assigned by Project Managers.
- Coordinate project information between Project Managers, field supervision, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Marginal (Non‑Essential) Functions
Occasional duties that may be reassigned without changing the essential nature of the role.
- Participate in site visits and field walks, increasing with experience.
- Support special projects and participate in company-sponsored training.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and able to learn the client’s ERP and project management systems.
- Willingness to learn project management and estimating fundamentals.
- Valid driver’s license and high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in construction, estimating, or project coordination.
- Familiarity with mechanical, plumbing, or fire protection systems.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, or willingness to learn through training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Frequently sits, works at a computer, and communicates by phone, email, and in person.
- Occasionally visits active jobsites, with exposure to typical site conditions and required PPE.
- Occasionally climbs ladders and lifts up to 50 lbs during site visits.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year (based on experience).
