Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support program and construction management activities on infrastructure, institutional, and commercial projects. This role reports to a Project Manager or Project Director and offers strong mentorship, exposure to clients and contractors, and growth along a project management career track.


What You’ll Do

  • Provide project management support across all project phases to ensure alignment with owner objectives and schedules.
  • Assist in defining project scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and milestones.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, capture minutes, and distribute project updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance vs. milestones, budgets, and KPIs; prepare status reports and executive summaries.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, equipment planners, and specialty consultants to support design coordination and construction activities.
  • Maintain and update project schedules and financial forecasts; identify variances and support corrective action planning.
  • Administer procurement and contract processes: bid documentation, contract tracking, invoices, payments, and change order reviews.
  • Identify and track project risks and changes; maintain Risk and Change Registers and support mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with regulatory reviews, inspections, occupancy coordination, and project closeout while maintaining organized project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with standard project management methodologies and eagerness to grow in practical application.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, e-Builder).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of design and construction processes, project phases, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills for preparing project performance reports and tracking metrics.
  • High attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking.
  • Effective collaborator who can manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • New graduates with strong co-op / internship experience in Architecture, Engineering, Design, or Construction firms are encouraged to apply.
  • 1+ year of relevant experience along a Junior / Assistant Project Manager career track is strongly preferred.

  • Location: Charleston Air Force Base, SC (on-site / client-specific project locations)
  • Employment type: Full-time, Contractor opportunities possible depending on project needs
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Skills & Tools

  • Project scheduling and forecasting (Microsoft Project, e-Builder or similar)
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint — advanced proficiency preferred
  • Experience with contract administration, procurement, and change order processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholder engagement
