Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an Assistant Project Estimator to support pre-construction activities in Houston, TX. What You’ll Do
- Assist in developing construction estimates from conceptual design through detailed plans and specifications.
- Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam or other on-screen takeoff tools.
- Solicit, organize, and compare subcontractor and vendor proposals.
- Help prepare bid summaries, scope sheets, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify scope requirements, discrepancies, and potential risks.
- Support preparation of RFIs and value-engineering ideas.
- Maintain accurate historical cost data, bid records, and subcontractor information.
- Collaborate with Estimators, project teams, architects, consultants, and Business Development through pre-construction.
- Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and bid reviews as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field — or equivalent education/experience.
- Internship or entry-level experience in construction, estimating, engineering, or project management preferred.
- Ability or strong interest in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Bluebeam or other on-screen takeoff software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, and follow-through.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Proactive mindset and eagerness to learn from experienced estimating and operations professionals.
