Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an Assistant Golf Grounds Superintendent to support day-to-day turf and grounds operations at a hospitality property in Jere Baxter, TN. This entry-level management role helps supervise grounds staff, maintain course playing conditions, and support the Golf Course Superintendent while managing budget and guest satisfaction.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with planning and executing grounds and turf maintenance activities (fertilizing, irrigating, seeding, mowing, raking, spraying).
  • Supervise daily shift operations and ensure compliance with department policies, standards, and safety procedures.
  • Coach and counsel team members; provide on-the-job training and performance feedback.
  • Schedule and assign work priorities to crew members to meet course and property standards.
  • Step in to lead the Grounds department in the Superintendent’s absence.
  • Ensure employees have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms; monitor productivity and quality.
  • Participate in department meetings and communicate goals and plans to the team.
  • Interact with guests to gather feedback and resolve service concerns; support exceptional customer service practices.
  • Assist with HR tasks including hiring support, onboarding, and employee recognition activities.
  • Help investigate employee accidents and support departmental safety and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

  • 2‑year degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Turf Management, or related field plus 2 years’ related experience; OR
  • 4‑year bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Turf Management, or related field (no experience required).
  • Experience with turf maintenance, irrigation systems, and common grounds equipment preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team‑lead experience is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of turf management and groundskeeping practices.
  • Leadership and coaching skills; ability to set and monitor performance standards.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for guest interaction and team supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, organize workflow, and solve operational problems.
  • Attention to safety, loss-prevention, and regulatory compliance.
  • Physical stamina to perform and oversee outdoor, seasonal work.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Pay range: $24.04–$29.33 per hour.
  • Full‑time; bonus eligible.
  • On-site at the property in Jere Baxter, TN (not a remote position).
  • Position type: Management.
