What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Assistant Environmental Planner to support preparation of environmental documentation and technical reports for public- and private-sector projects. Under the direction of a Project Manager you will:
- Prepare and contribute to CEQA and NEPA documents (Initial Studies, Environmental Impact Reports, environmental assessments) and topical sections based on technical findings
- Research regulatory requirements, planning policies, demographic and utilities data, and other background information needed for environmental review
- Compile, organize, and maintain project files, administrative records, and quality assurance / quality control documentation
- Assist with document production, formatting, and transmittal; coordinate deliverables with team members and external partners
- Support proposal preparation, client communications, and internal project coordination
- Attend project meetings and, occasionally, client or site visits as needed
- Work collaboratively across technical disciplines and contribute to a team-focused, client-service oriented environment
Requirements
- 1–2 years of environmental planning experience preferred; strong entry-level candidates will be considered
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Studies, Environmental Planning, or related field
- Practical understanding of CEQA and/or NEPA and familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proven research and technical writing ability
- Excellent organizational, scheduling, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong competency with Excel is required
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a fast-paced, collaborative team
- Ability to work regularly from one of the client’s California offices; hybrid arrangements may be available at the supervisor’s discretion
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $62,000 to $72,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
