Role Overview

This entry-level Assistant Equipment Engineer (Equipment) position supports commissioning, optimization, and continuous improvement of automated equipment on battery production lines in Greenville, NC. You'll work hands-on with senior engineers and technicians to troubleshoot controls and automation, help reduce downtime, and support production ramp-ups.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with equipment commissioning, debugging, and PLC programming/adjustments
• Support evaluation and continuous improvement of battery production equipment
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify root causes of downtime or defects
• Assist with setup and tuning of servo systems, robotics, VFDs, sensors, and industrial communication
• Support electrical troubleshooting of control cabinets, I/O signals, and safety circuits
• Work alongside equipment technicians on maintenance planning and technical issues
• Help develop and maintain equipment maintenance standards, SOPs, and technical documentation
• Participate in new equipment installation, qualification, and production ramp-up activities
• Support cross-functional projects with production, quality, and process engineering teams

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, or a related engineering field
• 0–2 years of experience — recent graduates, internships, co-ops, and academic project experience are welcome
• Hands-on interest in automation, controls, and industrial equipment
• Basic familiarity with PLC logic, electrical schematics, and equipment troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn on the production floor
• Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally with technicians and engineers
